“American Dream,” portrays the Red Hook Houses from the 1930’s to today, surrounded by the rising waters of the #RedHook Channel: the community’s #resilience to climate change is highlighted.
The 100 foot mural includes black and white collage photography with cyanotypes from pictures of the waters from the Redhook water channel, and advertising images from the 1950’s.
Created in response to workshops held with students at PS15 (@ps15redhook) in collaboration with Pioneer Works (@pioneerworks): the artwork features portraits of the students along with community members from Red Hook Houses, Red Hook Initiative, and Red Hook Art Project (@rhap). The artwork is installed at 590 Clinton Street, Brooklyn, New York
